Premium Faux Grass (2026): What You Get for the Extra Money and 5 High-End Lines Worth It

Premium faux grass costs more per square foot, and it earns that back only where looks and lifespan matter most.
Premium faux grass is top-tier turf. It has a higher face weight, several shades of green with thatch, shaped blades, matte fibres and longer warranties. It's usually sold through dealers and installed by a pro. In a front yard you'll look at every day for 15 years, the difference shows. On a balcony you'll leave in two years, it mostly doesn't.
This guide explains what makes turf premium, what it costs, when it's worth it and five high-end lines. We drew on guidance from CCGrass and RealTurf, UK and South African retailer listings, and brand information from the dealer lines named. Lifespan and warranty claims are the brands' own. For realism specifically, see realistic faux grass. For long-lasting turf, see faux grass for durability.

What makes turf premium?
Premium turf uses more fibre, more colours and better backing.
| Feature | Budget turf | Premium turf |
|---|---|---|
| Face weight | Light, often well under 60 oz | Heavy, often around 70 to 90 oz or more |
| Colour | One or two greens | Several greens plus brown or tan thatch |
| Blade shape | Flat or simple C | W, S or mixed shapes for bounce-back |
| Shine | Can look glossy | Matte fibres |
| Fibre | Often PP | PE, or PE/nylon blends |
| Backing | Basic, hole-punched | Permeable or flow-through, stronger tuft bind |
| Warranty | Short or none | Often 10 years or more, covering fading |
Tuft bind is how firmly each tuft is locked into the backing. Strong tuft bind means blades don't pull out under traffic or brushing.
What is the difference between cheap and premium artificial grass? More yarn, more colours, better blade shapes, a stronger backing and a longer warranty. See our blade guide and fibre guide.

How much does premium turf cost?
Premium installs sit at the top of the cost range.
CCGrass puts installed turf at about $12 to $30 per sq ft, with premium lines at the upper end. In the UK, a turf directory lists material prices from about £5 to £25 per square metre, with luxury lines at the top. Labour, base work and site conditions usually matter as much as the turf itself. See our faux grass cost guide.
When is premium worth it?
Premium pays off where the lawn is seen, used hard or kept for years:
- Front yards and high-visibility spaces. If neighbours and visitors see it every day, realism matters most.
- Hot, dry climates with water limits. A press release from an Arizona luxury lawn installer highlights desert demand. Better UV protection holds colour longer under intense sun.
- Long ownership. If you'll stay 10 years or more, a longer life and warranty spread the cost.
- Heavy use with pets and kids. Denser turf and better blade shapes resist matting and wear.
When it's not worth it: short-term rentals, decorative pieces, small balconies and low-traffic corners where nobody looks closely. Mid-range turf does the job there. See affordable faux grass.
The 5 best premium faux grass lines
These five lines sit at the top of the market. They're listed in no particular order.
1. SYNLawn — Premium Dealer Turf Across Landscape, Pet and Play
Sold by: dealers and installers (non-affiliate) | Lines: landscape (such as SYNAugustine), pet systems, playground, putting, commercial
SYNLawn sells dealer-installed turf across a wide range of uses. Its landscape lines are named after real grass types, such as SYNAugustine, which helps match turf to the lawns in your area. It also has dedicated pet, playground and putting systems.
On top of that, buying through a dealer means you can see full-size samples and finished installs locally.
Our take: from our hands-on work with artificial grass, a full-size sample in daylight tells you more than any spec sheet; premium turf earns its price in how matte and varied it looks from a few feet away.
But pricing comes through quotes, and quality depends on the installer as much as the turf. See our SYNLawn review.
2. ForeverLawn — Premium Dealer Turf, Maker of K9Grass
Sold by: dealers (non-affiliate) | Lines: Landscape, K9Grass, Playground Grass, SportsGrass, GolfGreens
ForeverLawn sells premium dealer-installed lines for landscape, play, sport and golf. It's also the maker of K9Grass, a well-known pet turf system.
It's a strong fit for buyers who want one brand for the lawn and a separate dog area.
Our take: in our experience, lawn turf and pet turf rarely look identical side by side, so a single brand with matched lines is the easiest way to keep a yard looking like one lawn.
But like SYNLawn, it's quote-based and installer-dependent. See our ForeverLawn review and K9Grass review.
3. TigerTurf — Global Premium Turf Maker
Sold by: distributors, including Synthetic Grass Warehouse in the US (non-affiliate) | Lines: residential landscape, pet, putting, sports
TigerTurf is a global turf maker, strong in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. In the US, its turf is sold through distributors such as SGW. Its residential, pet and putting lines give buyers a premium option outside the big US dealer networks.
Our take: from our décor work, turf made for strong-sun markets tends to hold its green better outdoors; fading is the first thing that makes cheaper grass look fake.
But US availability depends on your local distributor. See our TigerTurf review.
4. Global Syn-Turf — Premium Weights in Warehouse Rolls
Sold by: warehouses and some online sellers (non-affiliate) | Range: 50+ turf types, about 40 to 120 oz face weight (brand-listed)
Global Syn-Turf sells a very wide range of turf, from about 40 oz up to 120 oz face weight. The heavy end of that range sits well into premium territory, and buying from a warehouse can be cheaper than a full dealer install if you DIY.
Our take: in our experience handling turf, heavier face weights feel and look fuller, but they're also much heavier to move and cut, so plan for extra hands on a DIY install.
But with so many products, you'll need to compare specs carefully. See our Global Syn-Turf review.
5. XLX TURF Thick Turf — Best High-End Option on Amazon
Pile: 1.38 in | Density: 84.6 oz (seller-listed) | Blades: C-shape
Want premium density without a dealer? XLX lists one of the highest densities we've found on Amazon.
XLX's thick turf lists an 84.6 oz density at a 1.38 in pile, with C-shaped blades that spring back after traffic. That density sits in premium territory.
But Amazon turf rarely matches dealer lines on warranty and support. And XLX's listing says polypropylene in one place and PE and PP in another, so check the fibre with the seller.
Our take: from our hands-on work with artificial grass, a dense 1.38 in pile looks lush in photos, but fibre matters up close; PE reads soft and matte, while pure polypropylene tends to look shinier.
